Friends' Support in 2025

In partnership with the Danville Library Endowment, the Friends helped fund quicker, more secure phone charging options for patrons with three new charging locker units within the library

 Supported the purchases of new nonslip mats in the Children’s Reading Room as well as new upholstery for chair and bench seating in the popular Teen Zone

 Contributed to the adult speaker program series which included Grant Din on “Angel Island & Its Immigrants”, and Obi Kaufmann for his “California Wildfires” presentation

Provided support to STEAM programs like “The Magic of Neuroscience”

 Sponsored the Winter Wonderland, Halloween Haul, Library Love, and Summer Nature Curiosity Activity Bags, filled with seasonal crafts, activity sheets, and fun surprises to engage our youngest readers, encouraging them to learn and explore independently or with their families

Provided comic books for Free Comic Book Days as well as prizes for the Paws-to-Read Partnership. And don’t forget prizes and crafts for the Talk Like a Pirate Day Scavenger Hunt and for Picture Book Month!  

Supported “Insiders Create” in-person art sessions and activity bags to provide opportunities for teens and adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities to create and connect with one another in fun and creative ways

Fostered engagement with teenage students through the Danville Library's Teen Advisory Board (TAB), the largest in the county, to improve library service to teens, expand the Young Adult collection, assist with crafts kits, and contribute to teen programming and important tutoring

Purchased Summer Reading Prize Books to encourage and motivate children to continue to read throughout the summer months through the library's Summer Reading Program and avoid the "summer learning slide". The Program kicked off with a magic show by Perry Yan!

Sponsored large family programs such as the Fratello Marionette’s Halloween Puppet Show and Leung’s White Crane Lion Dance for the Lunar New Year.
